Less than 40 ICU beds in all Covid hospitals

Despite the country is at high risk for Covid, but there are still less than 40 intensive care beds in hospitals reserved for Covid patients, according to health sources.

According to the sources this situation is exacerbated by the fact that some of the patients who contracted the Covid virus this time presented only respiratory distress without any other symptoms.

If their condition worsens, they will have to be referred for intensive care, and doctors say it is significant that more young people are experiencing this condition. The sources point out that this is a dangerous situation when there is a type of Covid in the country which infects the lungs without showing the basic Covid symptoms and directly causes pneumonia.

The health sector is currently preparing for a third wave of intensive care units, but the situation in Sri Lanka could soon be worse than in India if the Covid situation if it is not brought under control a Medical professional stressed.
