President appoints Kushani Rohanadheera as the Secretary General of Parliament

President Ranil Wickremesinghe has appointed Mrs Kushani Rohanadheera as the Secretary General of Parliament with effect from 23 May 2023.

Mrs Rohanadheera is the current Parliamentary Chief of Staff and Deputy Secretary General of Parliament and has been serving for a long time holding various posts in the Parliament.

She has been appointed with the approval of the Constitutional Council following the retirement of the current SG Mr. Dhammika Dasanayake.

With the appointment, Mrs Rohanadhira joins the history of the Parliament as the second woman to hold this position.

Mrs Kushani Rohanadeera, a distinguished alumna of Ambalangoda Dharmasoka Vidyalaya, is a Bachelor of Science graduate of the University of Colombo. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Open University of Sri Lanka. Also, she has been sworn in as a practicing lawyer.

She joined the Parliament of Sri Lanka as a Parliamentary Officer in 1999 and has worked as Assistant Chief Officer and Deputy Chief Officer in various departments and bureaus of the Parliamentary Secretariat.

Ms. Kushani Rohanadeera became the Assistant Secretary General of the Parliament of Sri Lanka in 2012, and from December 2020 she served as the new Deputy Secretary General and Chief of Staff of the Parliament of Sri Lanka.

She is the wife of President Counsel Mr. Harigupta Rohanadeera and is the mother of three sons.
