National List MP Jayantha Ketagoda has informed the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) that he is ready to resign at any time to allow for the swearing in of the National Organizer of the SLPP Basil Rajapaksa as a Member of Parliament.

Accordingly, Basil Rajapaksa is scheduled to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament on December 10 at the third reading of the 2021 Budget, according to reliable sources.

The sources further say that the government is planning to give a top post in a state institution to Jayantha Ketagoda who is resigning from his post on behalf of Basil Rajapaksa.

Jayantha Ketagoda has stated that the government has decided to take its program forward in a new format from next year after the budget is passed for the third time in Parliament and that it will be possible to succeed only if Basil Rajapaksa is in the government as a Minister.
