Former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella’s son, Ramith Rambukwella, a well-known cricketer, was indicted yesterday before the Colombo High Court for failing to disclose the source of assets worth Rs. 270 million within a period of two years. He was charged under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

According to the indictment, Ramith Rambukwella had acquired assets worth over Rs. 290 million, including a luxury apartment valued at Rs. 80 million at Capital Residencies, Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 07, as well as two houses worth more than Rs. 60 million. He also maintained eight bank accounts under his and his wife’s names.

The indictment further stated that Rambukwella had failed to explain the source of Rs. 270 million, which constituted a significant portion of his total assets.
