According to the health officials made this reveal the government had decided to give the first dose of Sputnik V to Sri Lanka only to residents of Teldeniya, Gangawata Korale, and the Kandy Municipal Council area.
However, residents of other areas in the Kandy district such as Wattegama, Daulagala, Harispattuwa, Yatinuwara, Akurana, Pathadumbara, Nugawela, Senarathgama, and other areas have also been given the same dose of Sputnik using political influences and producing fraudulent documents.
From the first to the fifth of June Sputnik received the first dose of one hundred and fifty thousand people. So far, Sputnik has received only 15,000-second doses. Health officials are planning to inoculate persons over 60 years of age living above the vaccinated area with the received second dose.
However various attempts are made by persons who live in other areas too through the political authorities to receive the second dose of Sputnik, Sources said to Lankasara
However, it is learned that a large number of people who could not directly apply for the second dose as the first dose was taken secretly are now looking for a way to obtain the second dose these sources further said.
