Kandy Colombo main road has been closed between Kadugannawa and Hingula, Mawanella due to a landslide risk and motorists are informed about alternative roads , Senior Supirintandent of Police for Kandy, Chamil Ratnayake said.
According to the police vehicles traveling from Matale, Wattegama Manikhinna to Colombo are advised to drive to Colombo via Katugastota, Galagedara and Kurunegala.
Vehicles traveling from Kandy to Colombo will be diverted to Colombo via Peradeniya, Gelioya, Gampola, Hemmatagama and Mawanella.
Traffic traveling to Colombo from Kadugannawa Gampola, Hemmatagama and Mawanella.
The people are urged to use only these roads as the pahala Kadugannawa road will be closed tomorrow (11), the SSP said.
Professor Athula Senaratne of the Geology Department of the University of Peradeniya has stated this morning that there is a risk of a severe landslide from the Pahala Kadugannawa rock cutting area to the fruit stall area.
