The minister said that he had to intervene in this case even though it was not related to him because of the ongoing tug-of-war between the Attorney General’s Department and the Marina Environmental Pollution Authority .

The minister further revealed that the expert reports that he requested through intervention were also continuously delayed. In the meantime, he received information that the shipping insurer has credited a sum of 250 million dollars to the London account of a certain Sri Lankan person to avoid this case.

The Justice Minister further said that he did not know anything about the truth or not of this matter, but as soon as he got to know the information, he informed the Inspector General of Police about the incident.
