Hero cop who foiled hospital robbery killed in accident 

A Police constable attached to the State Intelligence Service (SIS) succumbed to his injuries today morning after meeting with an accident in Havelocktown recently. He was one of the rookie cops involved in nabbing the doctor who on Tuesday (09) robbed Rs. 7.9 million from the National Hospital. The Policeman, PC 93666 Dulith Alahapperuma was 22 years old at the time of his death. He along with a colleague who foiled the robbery early this week was commended by the Acting Inspector General of Police C.D Wickramaratne. 

Alahapperuma had been travelling with a friend, another intelligence officer on a motorbike when they were run down by a defender driven by a drunk driver in Thumulla junction. The driver was later identified as a 24-year-old law student.
