The discussion between striking health workers and the Health Minister has concluded without a resolution, with the minister expressing an inability to address the issue single-handedly.
As a result, health union leaders and the Health Minister are set to engage in a special discussion with the Minister of State for Finance to explore potential solutions. Health unions have affirmed their commitment to the strike until a conclusive meeting with the Minister of Finance.
The symbolic strike, which commenced with the participation of 72 health unions, is scheduled to persist until tomorrow morning (17). The primary demand motivating the strike is the extension of the Disturbance, Availability, and Transport (DAT) allowance of Rs 35,000, currently allocated to doctors, to all health workers. The unions are resolute in their stance, awaiting a decisive discussion with the Minister of Finance later in the day.
