Health Care Professionals Union Temporarily Suspends Strike

The Health Care Professionals Union has opted to postpone the scheduled health strike, which was slated to commence at 6:30 tomorrow (18) morning, for an additional seven days.

This decision, sanctioned by the leadership board of the trade union alliance, comes in response to a formal request submitted by the Minister of Health, accompanied by the Secretary of Health’s signature, dated today (18).

The proposed strike action was initially prompted by the Ministry of Finance’s delayed response regarding the implementation of a joint technical report prepared by the Ministry of Health and the Alliance of Health Professionals. However, in light of recent developments, particularly a request made by the Minister of Health, the union leadership has decided to temporarily suspend the strike.

Ravi Kumudesh, convenor of the Health Service Professional Council, elucidated that the decision to halt the strike temporarily was made to facilitate a conducive environment for dialogue and negotiation.
