G.C.E. A/L Exam Eligibility Attendance Requirement Reduced to 40%

Education Minister Susil Premajayantha has taken steps to reduce the minimum attendance percentage required to appear for the G.C.E. A/L examination to 40%. The attendance requirement, which was initially set at 80 percent, has now been halved to 40 percent for the current academic year.

A spokesperson from the Ministry of Education revealed that this decision was made in response to reports from various schools, indicating that a substantial number of students had not been able to meet the previous 80 percent attendance threshold. The Minister’s decision aims to prevent any unfair treatment of students and to ensure that a greater number of aspiring candidates have the opportunity to sit for the crucial examination.
