The Fort Police Station which was closed yesterday (20) after an Inspector attached to its special investigation unit tested positive for Covid 19 was reopened today. According to Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana the Police station was opened from 9 am today after it was disinfected and sanitized. Relief officers have been brought in to carry out the duties of the Police station.
After the infected police officer was reported, the health department took steps to quarantine all the officers of the Special Investigation Unit of the station. At present 48 officers of the Fort Police Station have been quarantined inside the police station and the rest of the officers attached to the Fort Police Station have been placed under quarantine in their barracks.
Earlier, the Minuwangoda Police had to be closed down due to such a Covid threat.
