Former CB Governor has changed name: AG tells Trial at Bar

The Attorney General’s Department today informed the Special High court trial at Bar that former governor of the Central Bank Arjun Mahendran, one of the main respondents of the Central Bank Bond case has changed his legal name to Arjan Alexander.

According to the AG’s department, the latest information has been provided to the local authorities by the INTERPOL. Accordingly, the name change has taken place in Singapore, where Mahendran is said to be residing.

INTERPOL has noted that the name change will not hamper investigations into Mahendran. While the AG also has reached out to the Attorney General of Singapore to inquire if the current extradition process will be hampered due to the name change and if any amendments will be needed.

However, AG reported that the Singaporean counterpart has informed the Department that no such amendment will be necessary. The case will be taken up once again on November 17.
