The Sri Lankan government has expressed its displeasure to the UK government through diplomatic channels on allowing the UK house of parliament be used to commemorate ‘Maveerar Naal’ honouring LTTE terrorists killed in Sri Lanka’s three decade long war.

Last month on November 26 the ‘Glory Lilly’ known in tamil as Karthigaipoo, the national flower of Tamil Eelam, was projected onto Britain’s Houses of Parliament in Westminster, Central London. The projection organised by British Tamil diaspora members lit up the Houses of Parliament with an image of the flower and the words “We Remember” and “We remember the heroes who fought for freedom from Sri Lankan state genocide”.

Foreign Affairs Minister Dinesh Gunawardena is scheduled to meet the British High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Sarah Hulton tomorrow (08) to discuss the matter.

The LTTE is a banned organization in every country in Europe. However Maveerar Naal celebrations remembering killed LTTE terrorists had been allowed in most countries including Norway, UK and Germany.
