Exclusive discussion between the President and former PM

An exclusive discussion has taken place between President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe on the current situation in the country at the Parliametary premises yesterday (07).

At the invitation of the President, Ranil Wickramasinghe has joined the discussion and only the two of them participated in the discussion.

The former Prime Minister has pointed out the need to immediately implement a special program to provide quick solutions to the crises that have arisen in the country and to enable the people to live.

He pointed out that the country had suffered such a setback in the recent past due to wrong actions taken by the government and delays in certain decision making and that they should be rectified and move forward.

The President inquired from the former Prime Minister about going to the International Monetary Fund and obtaining loan assistance to Sri Lanka under it as well as its future steps.

It is reported that Mr Wickramasinghe has proposed to be set up a consortium consisted with five major countries in the region including India, China and Japan, South Korea and EU and the future steps of Sri Lanka.
