The Sri Lanka Medical Association has strongly objected to the steps taken by the government to sell liquor online.
In a letter to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, the SLMA points out that online advertising or selling of liquor online is illegal under the National Authority of Alcohol and Tobacco No. 26 of 2006. The letter questions whether the Excise Department is doing this without knowing the law properly.
