MAKO

The delay in holding provincial council elections not only takes away the people’s right to vote but is also detrimental to democracy according to the Chairman of the Election Commission Nimal Punchihewa.

He noted that provincial councils continue to function under the authority of governors and civil servants without the involvement of people’s representatives.
