Dayasiri & Siyambalapitiya in a closed door meeting with the PM

SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara, Ranjith Siyambalpitiya and a few others had a closed-door meeting with Prime minister Ranil Wickremasinghe this morning and pledged their support for all the progressive steps of the government while sitting on the opposition benches.

Jayasekara has requested not to create a split in the party and has said such governments cannot forge ahead solving problems
He has told the Prime minister that the power to make crucial decisions regarding the party is with President Maithripala Sirisena, as the party leader.

Former Minister Udaya Gammanpila also met with the Prime Minister on behalf of the ten parties sitting as independent members in Parliament and pledged conditional support for the government from the opposition.

During the discussion, Wickrkemsinghe said the government would appoint a national advisory council comprising leaders of all political parties and, in principle, agreed to introduce the 21st amendment to the Constitution at the earliest possibility. The Prime Minister has said all parties not represented in the Cabinet can be part of the fifteen committees appointed to oversee the Ministries and their operations.
