People of 19 households put into home quarantine

Health officials in Jaffna have taken steps to put people from 19 households into home quarantine after an Indian merchant who visited the area has tested positive for Covid 19 after returning to his home country. Accordingly, those he associated in Inuvil and Navaly, Jaffna has been home quarantined from May 9.

Sources said those who have been put in quarantine are 19 businessmen who purchased goods from the Indian and the members of their families. 

When Lankasara inquired from the Indian High Commission Office in Jaffna, an official said they are looking into the matter after hearing unofficial reports of such an incident. 

He also said the identity of the Indian merchant remains uncertain.
