The Police say that when the MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam went to an examination centre in Kilinochchi with another group and held a political meeting on the school ground; the police objected to it and the MP had a conflict and an argument with the police.

The Maradankeni Police, who started investigating the incident, arrested two people from Kilinochchi and produced them before the court, after which the Kilinochchi court ordered them to be remanded until the 7th of June.

The MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam was informed several times to come to the Maradankeni Police to get a statement regarding this incident but has avoided saying that the MP had to go to Parliament.

After the police presented this information to the Kilinochchi court, an order was imposed preventing the MP from going abroad.
