The CID has been ordered an investigation to look in to sudden power outage in the Parliament complex at the moment of swearing-in new President Ranil Wickramasinge .
The swearing-in ceremony of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the 8th Executive President was scheduled to be telecasted live by Independent Television, among which television channels are scheduled to broadcast as a simulcast.
After entering the Parliament on the red carpet, the live broadcast stopped.
It was reported after the live broadcast was halted due to a power outage in the Parliament complex.
In the event of a power outage in the Parliament complex, the generators are usually switched on automatically within two minutes and it is reported that the power was down for ten minutes when the oath was taken.
Because of this, TV channels have not been able to cover live broadcasts.
