The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) have decided to conduct a joint investigation into the alleged Rs. 120 million bribery case.

Police stated that the collaboration is aimed at ensuring a more comprehensive and systematic investigation into the incident.

Three suspects, including lawyer Rakhitha Rajapaksa, the son of former Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, and Charith Abeysinghe, the former Horana Electoral Organizer of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), have been arrested and remanded in connection with the case.

According to reports, the investigation is expected to uncover evidence linking some individuals, including key police officers and politicians, allegedly connected to a drug trafficking network.
