The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and India’s NTPC have called for tenders for a 50 MW solar power project with a battery energy storage system to be constructed in Sampur.
Trincomalee Power Company Limited, a joint venture with 50% ownership each by the Ceylon Electricity Board and India’s NTPC, has invited tenders to develop a 50 MW solar power plant with solar panels on land located in Sampur in the Trincomalee District.
According to Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Energy, the scope of the project covers the entire process, from planning to installation of the solar power plant, including the installation of a battery energy storage system with a minimum capacity of 20 MW/20 MWh.
Tenders will be accepted until 18 February 2026 and will be opened on 19 February 2026. The project is expected to be completed within 21 months from the date of award of the tender.
