Legal action against Lord Skandha for breaking quarantine laws

The Moneragala District Secretary has decided to take legal action against the Kataragama Maha Devalaya for breaking quarantine and social distancing regulations. According to the District Secretary, Gunadasa Samarasinghe the Devalaya has been allowing an unlimited number of pilgrims to attend the religious observances in violation of the imposed quarantine regulations. “Therefore we will take legal action against the Kapu Mahattayas and others who are responsible,” he said.

He also stressed that though Covid 19 has been controlled in Sri Lanka, the public still must be mindful as it continues to spread in India and other neighbouring countries. “If an infected person visits the Devalaya, it could spread in the town and even across Sri Lanka,” he said.
