Champion Pula- the elusive oil tanker heading to Sri Lanka, docks at Krisnapattam port?

The elusive Oil Tanker carrying a consignment of petrol to Sri Lanka reached a port in India yesterday.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekara repeatedly said that the ship carrying petrol was supposed to have arrived in Sri Lanka today or tomorrow but has so far not yet arrived in Sri Lanka and has reached the Krishnapattam port in India.

According to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, the oil tanker Champion Pula was on its way from the Russian Port of Taman to Sri Lanka has reached the South Indian port.

Apart from this ship, no other vessel was sighted closer to the coast of Sri Lanka. Reports said that the authorities had attempted to divert the oil tanker en-route to South India to Colombo but could not be brought to Colombo as planned for some unknown reason.

Authorities are now trying to ascertain the reason behind the mix-up.

However, the oil tanker arrived at its original destination, Krishnapatnam Port, at 7.00 pm yesterday (24).

Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera also announced on his official Twitter account that the petrol tanker he had mentioned would arrive today or tomorrow but faced inordinate delays. He apologized for the unexpected turn of events.
