Anura Lewke, the owner of the house which collapsed recently in Buwelikada, Kandy has been arrested by the Police today. It was revealed during the week that the owner had only got planning permission to construct four stories but however had gone on to construct five.
The house collapsed on September 20, killing a family of three including a one and a half year old infant. However the owner of the house and his family had escaped unharmed.
Upon information revealed in investigations, Lewke was arrested this morning (29) on criminal charges according to Kandy SSP Sudath Masinghe. The suspect is to be produced before the Kandy Magistrate later today.
