Health officials are warning that the Minuwangoda Brandix Covid cluster is more dangerous than those that were found in Welisara and Kandakadu as the infected had been in open society. According to the Cheif of the Ministry of Health Epidemiology Unit Dr. Sudath Samaraweera therefore people around the country must be cautious and adhere to the imposed health guideline to prevent the spread of the disease.

He said that although there were large clusters of corona in the Welisara and Kandakadu areas in the past, the risk was less as they were in the camps, but the risk is greater as the people who work at Brandix come to work from their homes every day and are more exposed to society.

The doctor also said that the source from which the first woman to be diagnosed with coronavirus has not been found yet and therefore there is a higher risk of community spread.

According to the PCR tests conducted at Brandix in Minuwangoda, 71 people from the cluster have been identified as Covid 19 positive.
