Backbenchers voice their opinion in favour of the incumbent Governor of the Central Bank

Backbenchers of the SLPP have vehemently opposed moves by the government to remove the Governor of the Central Bank, Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe.

They have pointed out that the removal of Central Bank Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe could lead to unnecessary complications within the government.

Meanwhile, PA MP Jagath Pushpa Kumara has written to the Prime Minister requesting him to withdraw immediately any decision taken to remove the Governor of the Central Bank.

In the letter, the MP had described Nandalal Weerasinghe as an honest officer who had accomplished duties properly. He has said that Dr Weerasinghr came forward to save the country from the throes of an economic catastrophe.

In his letter, MP Jagath Pushpa Kumara has further requested the Prime Minister to use his leverage to protect talented officers and make use of them without pushing them to oblivion.
