A person has been apprehended in the Negombo area with a stash of 600 cigarettes unlawfully imported into the country.
The illegal cigarette haul, smuggled into Sri Lanka without payment of customs duties, was discovered during a raid conducted by officers from the Police Special Task Force’s Gonahena camp.

Following the raid, a 42-year-old individual was arrested in connection with the incident and subsequently handed over to the Negombo Police Station for further investigation.
The Negombo Police are actively conducting additional inquiries into the matter.
