Arrest all who gather around war memorial!

A Mullaitivu court has issued an enjoining order prohibiting people from gathering and lighting lanterns in groups in the Mullivaikkal area in Mullaitivu.

The enjoining order was issued following a request made to the court by the Mullaitivu Police under the Covid Suppression Rules.

Mullaitivu police said that the court order was obtained on a tip-off that a large number of groups to be arrived in Mullivaikkal on May 18 to light lanterns to commemorate the war dead.

The Mullaitivu Police further stated that the court order has been obtained as the situation is a major obstacle to the control of covid pandemic in the province and action will be taken to arrest those of any rank who violate the court order.

The Mullaitivu Police has banned all activities such as marching on motorbikes carrying banners in groups on highways and commemorating war victims in the Mullaitivu jurisdiction until May 20.

Mullaitivu Police have handed over the court order to a large number of people, including political activists in the Mullaitivu area.
