Another major gas blast brings heavy damages to a house!

A house of an household entrepreneur in the Yakahatuwa area in Minuwangoda has caught fire due to a gas explosion last night (23).

Homeowners say that more than Rs. 7.5 million worth of goods have been destroyed in the fire that broke out in that part of the house where he runs a business that renting service of festive items and decorations.

The blast took place at around 8.30 last night at the Grand View Estate in Yakahatuwa. Residents were not home at the time. When the neighbors heard an explosion in the house and saw that the house was on fire, the group intervened to put out the fire and informed the owner of the house.

Homeowner Manjula Balasuriya said this about the incident.

“My wife and the rest of the family were on their way from our business place in Gampaha at that time. There is a cow in the garden. I was going to fetch the cow from where it was tied.

Then people shouted that the house was on fire. I also ran there. The fire was put out when the fire brigade arrived. We run a fancy goods and decoration business. All those decorations are ruined. The loss will be around 75 lakhs. “

The homeowner said that he had lodged a complaint with the Minuwangoda Police and that they would come and inspect and send an investigation team.
