The Police have arrested an individual from the Alawatugoda area who printed fake five thousand rupee notes and another person along with the computer and other electronic equipment used to print the money.
It has been revealed that this money has been printed in a photo gallery in Alawathugoda town and that all the fake thousand notes have the same serial number.
It has been discovered that this investigation was launched as a result of one person regularly visiting stores and paying five thousand rupees notes to purchase goods that are worth less than five hundred rupees. The shop owners became concerned over the incident and informed the police.
The police also discovered forty other fake five thousand notes during their search of the suspect’s home, hidden in the bathroom.
The suspects will be produced in court today. Further investigations are being conducted as per the instructions of the Alawathugoda Police Station Commander, Chief Inspector Sujeewa Gunathilaka.
