16 cattle heads died on the 20th in the Poombukar area of Vavuniya due to poisoning of drinking water.
Officials of the Vavuniya Veterinary Office have stated that about 17 other animals who drank the poisoned water are sick and some of them are dying.

The cattle owners have complained to the Vavuniya Eachchankulam police that a person who was acutely disturbed by the cattle destroying his fertile land and the crops have poisoned them
.When the police went to arrest the suspect he had reportedly fled the area, and the Echchankulam police are conducting investigations into the incident.
