The third day of the Sri Dalada Vandana Exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic is being observed today (April 20). As of yesterday (April 19), 511 free food offerings (Dansals) have been registered within Kandy city, with an additional 120 awaiting registration. Many more are expected to seek registration in the coming days, according to Dr. Pasan Parakum Jayasinghe, Chief Municipal Medical Officer of Kandy, during an inquiry by Lankasara.
Dr. Jayasinghe further stated that 437 street vendors have also been registered. Those seeking registration should visit the Kandy Municipal Council website, where the relevant certificate will be issued within two to three hours.
He emphasized that all food served at the Dansals is regularly inspected by public health inspectors under his supervision to ensure hygiene and safety.
Additionally, a special program has been launched to guarantee the quality of drinking water distributed in Kandy city. As part of this initiative, water samples are tested in laboratories every 30 minutes.
