07 million a liquor permit – 51 Supermarkets to get new permits – MP Buddhika Pathirana reveals

The government is eyeing issuing more liquor licenses to the supermarket chain and that a discussion is underway to issue licenses to open at least 5 liquor stores in at least one supermarket in each electorate Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Buddhika Pathirana said.

“I have tabled a list of 51 licenses issued to supermarkets. In addition, the government should make a public statement that not a single liquor license will be issued. The devastation that has befallen the country due to the liquor available is enough.” The MP elaborated

Commenting on Sathosa the government retailing chain MP Pathirana said that there is a strategy underway to sell Sathosa to a leasing company. “Their plan is to bankrupt Sathosa retail chain with low-quality goods and services. Deteriorating the reputation of the Sathosa brand and giving way to sell it off. According to Article 18 of the Consumer Affairs Authority Act, we are rallying against this attempt at full strength.” Mr. Bufdhika Pathirana further said.
