For students who want to skip the uncertainty and time delays of traditional A/Ls, the Foundation in Biological Studies at IIHS offers a powerful and proven alternative, a programme designed to fast-track students into global health careers straight after their Ordinary Level (O/L) Examination. This programme offers an alternative to the traditional A/L route, giving students a head start on their higher education journey. With over 1,000 students already benefiting from the programme and progressing to universities in Australia, the UK, and Finland, IIHS has positioned this foundation course as a reliable launchpad to the world of medicine, nursing, biomedical sciences, public health, digital health, and more. Unlike typical foundation courses, the IIHS Foundation in Biological Studies is specifically aligned with international university standards. It offers direct progression into degree programmes in fields such as Medicine, Nursing, Allied Health, Public Health, Health Administration, and even emerging areas like Digital Health and Data Science.

“This foundation programme is a true game-changer. It breaks down traditional barriers in education and opens the doors to world-class healthcare education right after O/Ls. It’s about saving time, saving money, and launching students directly into global careers,” said IIHS CEO, Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe. Dr. Dinusha Kanatiwela, Head of Academic Development at IIHS, said that the course goes far beyond just teaching science subjects. “This is more than a foundation. It’s a transformational journey. We prepare students for university life, from academic writing and research skills to professional communication. Our graduates are confident, skilled, and internationally competitive.” The curriculum of the programme includes a well-rounded selection of subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Academic Writing, and Digital Literacy. English language development, leadership, and soft skills are also key parts of the programme, ensuring students are fully prepared to thrive in international academic and professional environments. Mr. Gayan Gunathilake, Head of the Biomedical Sciences Programme, said: “We’ve seen outstanding outcomes. Every graduate has a clear pathway to degrees abroad, particularly in Australia, the UK, and Finland. This programme is the gateway to global opportunities in healthcare.”It supports a wide range of multidisciplinary career pathways in health and science, from medicine and nursing to biomedical research and digital health. The programme is trusted by top universities worldwide for its quality and relevance. For more information, visit www.iihs.edu.lk or contact [email protected].
