Jayakantha Liyanage – Balapitiya –
Authorities have decided to close further the section of the Galle-Colombo road from Ambalangoda, Usmudulava junction to Hikkaduwa, Kumarakanda junction due to the inflow of sea waves.

Due to the high winds yesterday (01), yesterday (02) and today (03), the road traffic was disrupted in the Galle district near Galle port, Unawatuna, Hikkaduwa, Kahwa, Thelwatta, Madampagama, Pareliya etc. .

Due to this, the police temporarily closed the road from Galle to Ambalangoda and part of it has been reopened today (03).

The Department of Meteorology says that this situation has arisen due to the activation of the South West Monsoon and that there are high winds from Puttalam to Koloa, Galle, Hambantota to Pottuvil.
