Proposal to extend the concession period offered to the tourism sector to settle electricity bills until March 01, 2023 has been approved by the Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers at yesterday’s (21) meeting.
Co-cabinet spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana said this morning that the proposal made by Tourism Minister was approved by the cabinet.
The government previously granted a concession to hospitality service providers until February 28, 2021 for electricity bill settlements.
Although the country expected a considerable growth, the expected growth has not taken place due to the spread of COVID-19 again since April 2021, .
Sri Lanka opened borders for tourism in September and a gradual increase in arrival and revenue has been recorded.
