Professor Chandima Wijegunawardana was questioned by the CID today allegedly over her recent remarks on the X-Press Pearl disaster in the media. She made these remarks in a youtube interview recently had with TV presenter Chamuditha Samarawickrama and several other media.
Following the questioning Professor Wijegunawardana has told to Daily Mirror that she had only urged the government to seek the assistance of INTERPOL for a probe. She has said Dailymirror that she explained to CID officers that the objective was to urge the government to seek INTERPOL assistance for a proper probe
“I have handed over all documents as proof of my arguments with regard to X-Press Pearl to CID,” she added.
