Cattle have started dying due to the spread of a deadly disease among cattle in the Kilinochchi area which was affected by the rains caused by Hurricane Buravi.

Farmers in Kilinochchi stated that 327 cattle had died within three days.Farmers say that even more cattle have died so far, and that they are dying because of the difficulty of feeding and drinking water. Cattle owners also said that the abdomens of the cattle get bigger before they die.

A large number of cattle rescued by the Army while being swept away by the floods caused by Hurricane Buravi are among the dead cattle in Kilinochchi.
