Info sent to AG seeking ban on 6 types of plastic in Sri Lanka

The Minister of Environment Mahinda Amaraweera states that steps have been taken to ban 06 types of non-perishable plastics.

He stated that steps have been taken to obtain the approval of the Attorney General for the printing of the gazette notification regarding the ban on these plastics.

“Six types of sachet packets, plastic bottles containing pesticides and toys have been approved for ban. This work can be completed within the next week. We are doing this step by step. Then there are many types, including polythene bags. We will definitely take action to stop all this, ”said the Minister.
