The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) questioned Mullaittivu-based provincial journalist Ganapathipillai Kumanan for more than six and a half hours yesterday (17), over allegations that one of his articles contained content encouraging the revival of the LTTE and inciting terrorist activities.
According to reports, the questioning covered several of Kumanan’s media activities, including publications on his website. Kumanan, who is also the President of the Mullaittivu Media Association, attended the session accompanied by a lawyer.
The inquiry was held at the TID unit located at the Mullaittivu Alampil Police Station. TID officials stated that further action regarding the matter will be decided after reviewing his statement.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
