A meeting between the General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), Tilvin Silva, and the Governor of Zhejiang Province, China, Liu Jie, was held yesterday (09) at the Great Hall of the People in Zhejiang Province.
This meeting took place during an official visit to China by Tilvin Silva and a delegation from the JVP, at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.

During the meeting, both parties discussed the long-standing friendship between Sri Lanka and China, as well as the strong relationship between the JVP and the Communist Party of China. Special attention was given to future contributions that China, particularly Zhejiang Province, could make to strengthen Sri Lanka’s economy.
Tilvin Silva emphasized that the National People’s Power government, led by the JVP and established to replace a corrupt regime, is moving forward with a plan to rapidly develop the country’s economy. He expressed hope for continued support from China and Zhejiang Province, drawing inspiration from the progress made by the Communist Party of China.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara, Deputy Minister Munir Mulaffar, Jaffna District Parliamentarian A.M. Jegadeswaran, Matale District Parliamentarian Deepthi Wasalage, Gampaha District Parliamentarian Dharmapriya Wijesinghe, and several others.
Representing the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang Province were Deputy Governor Lu Shen, Director General of the South Asia Region of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Pan Xiu Bin, and other officials.
