The wreckage of the Bell 212 helicopter that crashed into the Maduru Oya Reservoir, claiming the lives of six personnel, was recovered by the Navy and the Air Force at around 4:00 p.m. today (10th).
Four Special Forces soldiers and two Air Force personnel lost their lives in this tragic accident while taking part in a demonstration training for the Maduru Oya Special Forces parade held on the 9th.

Six military personnel who were injured in the crash are still receiving treatment at the Polonnaruwa General Hospital.
A special investigation into the crash has been launched on the instructions of the Air Force commander. The helicopter belonged to the 7th Squadron of the Hingurakgoda Air Force Base.
The Special Forces parade was expected to feature 130 soldiers, but the helicopter crash disrupted the event.
