Thusitha Halloluwa, former Director General of Public Relations to the former President, has been summoned to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (07) at 10:00 a.m. He had previously made a public statement alleging that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake possesses assets worth over Rs. 4 billion and had invested the money in a shipping company in Greece.
The CID has issued the summons under Section 109(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code, requesting Halloluwa to disclose the sources of the information he shared through the media. His statement has raised concerns about public order and national security.
This notice is part of an ongoing investigation initiated after a complaint was filed by Thusitha Halloluwa himself, claiming that a person using his name had made a false statement about President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on social media.
However, on the instructions of the President, his legal representative, Akalanka Ukwatte, lodged a complaint with the CID on the 4th of this month, stating that a defamatory and false statement had been made against the President.
