New Democratic Front (NDF) Badulla District Parliamentarian Chamara Sampath Dassanayake was arrested by the Commission to Investigate Bribery or Corruption a short while ago.
Earlier, Dassanayake was summoned to provide a statement regarding an irregularity that occurred during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Uva Province. Following a lengthy interrogation by the Commission, he was taken into custody.
The Commission stated that he will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
