Sri Lanka Test cricket captain Dhananjaya de Silva’s brother, Savithra de Silva, was attacked with a sharp weapon, allegedly by members of an underworld gang.

The attack occurred at approximately 7:30 PM and was reportedly carried out by Indika Suranga Zoysa, alias Rathmalane Sudda, who is said to be associated with the underworld, along with several accomplices.

This incident revives concerns about ongoing threats against the de Silva family, as Dhananjaya de Silva’s father, Ranjan de Silva, a former municipal councilor for the Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia Municipal Council, was shot dead by underworld gangs in 2018.

Savithra de Silva, who sustained injuries in the attack, has been admitted to Lunawa Hospital in Moratuwa. His condition is reported to be stable and not life-threatening.
