Former Sri Lankan ambassador to Russia, Udayanga Weeratunga, has been arrested in connection with an incident of assaulting a neighbor.
A video recording shows the injured neighbor bleeding from the mouth after being struck with an iron rod.
In the video, Udayanga is seen threatening the neighbors, stating that he had spent years in prison and is not afraid to go back, while also alleging that even Gotabaya Rajapaksa had tried to “bring him down
The injured individual has been admitted to the Sri Jayawardenapura General Hospital. Udayanga, who is accused of the assault, is expected to be presented in court today.
