The Indian Navy, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy, seized nearly 500 kilograms of “ice” (crystal methamphetamine) and cocaine. These narcotics, along with a multi-day fishing vessel used to transport the drugs, were handed over to the Sri Lanka Navy’s Naval Ship *Gajabahu I* on November 29th.
The operation was carried out following an exchange of intelligence between the Indian Navy and the Sri Lanka Navy. Acting on this shared intelligence, the Indian Navy intercepted the vessels involved on November 24th and 25th.
The seized narcotics, the fishing vessels used for smuggling, and the suspects involved in the operation were brought to the Colombo Port today (December 2nd) by the Sri Lanka Navy for further legal proceedings.
