Harini To Remain PM : Sri Lanka’s New 24-Ministry Cabinet Today

The new Cabinet of Ministers is set to be appointed today. Current Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya will continue as the Prime Minister and also take on the Education portfolio.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake will retain the Ministry of Finance, Economy, and Stabilization Affairs, along with the Ministry of Defense.

Vijitha Herath has been designated as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Meanwhile, JVP stalwart K. D. Lalkantha will oversee the Ministry of Agriculture, and Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa is expected to be appointed as the Minister of Health and Mass Media.

Wasantha Samarasinghe will take charge of the Ministry of Trade, while Samantha Vidyarathna will assume the role of Minister of Plantation Industries, according to reliable sources.

The new Cabinet will consist of fewer than 25 ministers, with 22 ministers managing 24 portfolios. Deputy ministers will also be appointed accordingly.

The ministers and their deputies are scheduled to take their oaths before President Dissanayake later today.
